Reverse Stride: Hitting Drill

The Reverse Stride Drill helps hitters learn how to properly transition to the front side.

In the clip below Chris Lemonis, Head Coach at Mississippi State and former University of Louisville Asst. Coach,  shows you how the execute the Reverse Stride Drill.

Coach Lemonis  finds that often times young hitters spin or pull off the ball and they do not use their legs properly. He feels that this drill helps to teach them how to use their legs.It gives his players the feeling that their legs are under them and that they are swinging from the ground up.

Keys to the drill:

  • Start with a wide base
  • Bring front foot back and put the heel down
  • Bring the back knee to the front knee
  • Front foot should finish flat
