Rundown Philosophy

In this post, University of Miami Head Coach Jim Morris explains his philosophy on handling rundowns.

Rundowns are one of many “little things” that can win or lose you games. As a baseball coach you must decide on your philosophy and the drill your team accordingly.

In the video below Coach Morris, explains how his goal on rundowns is to get one out and to get it with one throw. Coach begins with an explanation of his philosophy and then you will see a video of an actual Miami Universty Baseball practice in which they are practicing rundowns while listening to Coach Morris coach his players.

Coach Morris is a 2-time NCAA Champ and a 2-time National Coach of the year. His is also one of only 6 college coaches with over 1500 wins. By any standard,  he is one of the best coaches in the country. This clip is taken from his instructional DVD.
